New York - American documentary filmmaker and screenwriter, Michael Moore, has responded to Donald Trump’s hate speech and fearmongering rhetoric against Muslims in the most original way.
The famous left-wing political activist took a picture of himself near the Trump Tower on the fifth avenue in Manhattan with the caption “We Are Muslims.”
Moore stood near the landmark building until the police came. After he was asked by the police to leave and went home, he wrote a letter to the to the real estate billionaire where he reminded him that he and his supporter no longer represent what the United States stand for.
“Fortunately, Donald, you and your supporters no longer look like what America actually is today. We are not a country of angry white guys,” he said.
To back his statement, Moore provided Trump with statistics that proves that most American voters do not identify with his hate speech against minorities, including Muslims and Hispanics.
“Here's a statistic that is going to make your hair spin: Eighty-one percent of the electorate who will pick the president next year are either female, people of color, or young people between the ages of 18 and 35. In other words, not you. And not the people who want you leading their country,” he went on.
Moore reminded Trump of the principles of equality and freedom of belief the United States stands for, adding that if he wants to ban Muslims, he will have to ban him and everyone else.
“So, in desperation and insanity, you call for a ban on all Muslims entering this country. I was raised to believe that we are all each other's brother and sister, regardless of race, creed or color. That means if you want to ban Muslims, you are first going to have to ban me. And everyone else.”
The post has garnered more than 34,000 likes and more than 10,000 shared in less than an hour after it was posted on the filmmaker’s official Facebook page.
