Paris - President of the National Foundation of Morocco's Museums Mehdi Qotbi received from French President Francois Hollande the insignia of Commander of the Legion of Honor, the highest award in France, during a ceremony held Monday night in the Elysee Palace.
Addressing the recipient, the French head of State said that Mehdi Qotbi has a humanist conception of dialogue between cultures, noting that his painting style "mix colors and countries to unite them".
"Your style is full of poetry and harmony. It is a wave of colors", he told Qotbi, noting that by making his calligraphy an abstraction, he transformed the writing into painting.
"You are Moroccan by birth and French by adoption, and proud of your dual nationality, one enriches the other", the French president said, adding that the artist is a bridge between Morocco and France.
