New York - A random act of kindness touched the hearts of a Muslim American family in Augusta, Georgia, on Christmas Eve.
Eslam Mohamed, of Egyptian descent, and his family of seven adults and five children were dining at a local Olive Garden restaurant on Christmas Eve, when another customer paid for his family’s entire dinner bill.
On his Facebook account, Mohamed posted the photo of the receipt on which the generous stranger wrote, “Paid, Merry Christmas beautiful family.”
But what warmed his heart the most was to receive this act of kindness when it was evident that he and his family are Muslims because all women siting around the table were wearing hijabs.
Eslam’s post and his description of what happened that night has gone viral garnering nearly 16,400 ‘shares’ on Facebook.

“Yesterday I went to Olive Garden restaurant to have dinner with nice families. We were a group of 7 adults and 5 children. Everyone in the restaurant was knowing that we were Arabs Muslims on the table coz of the language and the ladies were having scarves over their head (Hijab),” Eslam explained on his post.
“After finishing we asked for the receipts and the waitress came to us with that receipt in the picture,” he highlighted.
“Yes, someone paid for us and wrote those wonderful words on the receipt. I can't express how this act touched our hearts. Among all the bad things happening to Muslims and the hate speech that the presidential candidate had made lately, there is still light in the dark, there is still hope within the frustration,” the grateful Muslim added.
“All what I can say to who did that, Merry Christmas to you too and God bless such a beautiful heart you have,” he concluded.
Many Facebook left comments praising the generous move of the person who paid Muslim family’s move. “Really nice someone has true Christmas spirit!” someone posted.
The post has also brought hope to Muslim Americans who have been victims of Islamophobia.
“Yesterday I was [at a] traffic light and there was one guy in [a] black car that ke[pt] mak[ing] fun of me, I was so ups[et] until [your] post now,” another user wrote.
